Recent thoughts

So here are a couple of things I have been thinking about:

*
I have Facebook on my phone.  Duh.  It was announcing like all of the posts my "close friends" were posting.  It was making me a stalker when I really didn't want to be a stalker (at least not anymore!).  So I went in this past week and I cleaned up my "close friends" and only picked a select few people  in which to send me a notification when they post on Facebook.  Holy crap!!  I should have done that months and months ago.  It has freed me in more ways than I can explain!!  Now, I wont get a notification every 5 minutes of what you are eating!!  LOL

Reading glasses suck.  For the past few years I have been thinking that I may need reading glasses.  If the print is too small, I used to put them on.  I carried a pair in my purse, but really hardly ever pulled them out.  It was a bit challenging, but I could "adjust" the paper by moving it closer and further away (my old woman stance) and pretty much always read.  However, back in January or February (my year has made me really forget when things happened, I just know they happened) I went to my eye doctor and he adjusted my contacts for the first time in a relatively long time.  I went from -1.25 to -1.50.  This does not seem like such a big jump but OH MY GOSH, it is!!!  Since I put these new contacts in, I cannot see crap!  They are supposed to make me see better far off - they don't.  My doctor said that I may have trouble seeing closer -- YA THINK?!?!  I have more than just trouble, I CANNOT read close at all.  Now, I have reading glasses all over my house.  I have two pair at my computer desk so I can read my work schedule (two pair just in case I move one by accident!!).  I have a pair on the coffee table so I can read knitting patterns.  I have a pair in the kitchen -- do you have ANY idea how small directions are on packages?!?  I have a pair on my nightstand.  I have a new pair in my purse that I use...like every day!!  I have a pair in my car.  I even bought a "ReadeREST" that I saw on Shark Tank to put on my shirt!

I might be able to live with this if I could see better far away, but I can't really.  I want to go back to the old way!

Did I mention I have a mobile pair of eyes?  Natalie!!  She is my pair of glasses when I need to read something and do not have my reading glasses close.  I ask her all of the time, "What does this say?"  One day she is going to lie to me about how many pills to take just so she doesn't ever have to hear those words again!!

Dear Netflix:

Yes, I am still watching.  I have no life.  Just play the stupid movie!

So, I was listening to the news this morning and I heard a story about those laundry detergent pods, like Tide, are being eaten by little kids.  I think the statistic was that every minute Poison Control is called about a child who has put one of these in their mouth.  They said that the main reason for this is because they are so brightly colored and look like candy.

So, I would think that companies would get wise to this and change the packaging.  It's like antifreeze -- its pretty blue and usually in a gallon milk jug container.  To a kid, this very deadly product looks like raspberry Kool-Aid.  Perhaps, they should make it a puke green color with the smiley that is puking on the label.   Kids might know this.  (Also, just aside note here, apparently it is very sweet tasting and dogs love it, perhaps they should make it taste like crap.)  Same with PineSol and Windex and other cleaners.  They don't need to be a pretty color for adults to buy them.

I was going to say perhaps the parents should put these things up or in a locked cabinet, but we all know how sneaky children are.  Just ask me about The Game of Life  and the little blue and pink "people."

Speaking of my kids.  Apparently I have ruined them, in more ways than one.   The other day Natalie had brought up how she liked the clear colored Gatorade.  She said she remembers drinking it all of the time when she was younger.  I asked her if she knew why her drinks were always the "clear" colored ones.  She had no idea.  I told her it was because I didn't want my carpets stained so I always bought clear juices.  Clear apple, white cranberry, white grape, the frost or ice Gatorade.  She was appalled!  Then I really ruined her day and told her I did not allow either child to have Play-Doh.  That crap ruins carpets as well!  Or color eggs for Easter -- yeah, I would let them pick out a favorite toy at the store in lieu of egg coloring.  If they never did it, they never knew how much fun it was and how much they missed!  It might have been different if either kid or Trenty or I liked hard-boiled eggs....nah, it wouldn't have mattered.

I am sure there are a dozen other things I did wrong...oh well, sue me!!

I wish I new a secret to get my Labs from shedding so much!  I brush and brush, they shed and shed.  Have I mentioned how much I love those two?

My weak gag reflex is on point!!  Today while kickboxing, someone had sweated (sweat?) on the floor.  I gagged.  And gagged.  And gagged.  I know, people sweat all of the time, especially in that class, it is hard!  It was just something that got to me this morning.  Just thinking about it.....*gags*

Here are a few top news stories from 06/22/15:
However, you may not have heard any of these because a prisoner in Charleston was fed Burger King after arrest.  I can't believe that story made the news.  Yes, the kid had to eat, he was in custody.  Yes, the station he was taken to does not have facilities to cook inmates meals.  Yes, Burger King was apparently close.  No, it doesn't seem quite fair that he eats while the family's of his victims mourn.  No, it probably wasn't the first BK meal bought for a prisoner at that specific station.  Should the kid be put to death?  Yes, but after he found guilty by his peers and sentenced to death, not by starvation in a holding cell.  It is fair?  Probably not.  Is it news worthy?  Probably not.

There ya go!!  Thoughts in Velvet's head!  Were they news worthy?!?  LOL  Welcome to my life!

XOXO
